Kelly, Tim and Jeremey "Gumby's" Feista Night - August 8th!

After a couple hours at Jacob Riis Beach, to try to cool off, and a quick trip to Costco (I changed in the Costco bathroom - classy) Alex and I headed over to Jeremy and Tim's for a Mexican Fiesta Supper Club in Sunset Park. Those of you who haven't checked out Sunset Park in Brooklyn you definitely should. The park is one of the highest points in Brooklyn so it has a great view of Manhattan and the neighborhood is very neighborhoody - meaning their neighbor in the building next door knew Tim, Jeremy and Kelly were hosting their supper club - super sweet.

As we were walking up the stars to their apartment I knew we were in for a treat. You could smell the all spices and aromas that make a true Fiesta. To start off the night they served Black Bean and Corn Tartlets (look like mini taco shells filled with goodness) and Baked Jalapeno Poppers - seriously amazing. They also made a yummy drink (Sangre de Lobo Magaritas) and had an assortment of beer. Tim was very smart about the beer - he set out a cooler with ice - which you would normally associate with a large party, but it makes a ton of sense for Supper Club or dinner parties since the hosts' refrigerators are usually filled to the brim and the kitchen is packed with cooks.

Although these guys moved Jeremy's room into Tim's room to make more space for everyone to sit, we all ended up hanging out & eating in their large living room while the three of them took turns cooking, cleaning and hosting. For the main course they served Fish Tacos with Chipotle Aoli, Steak Tacos, Chicken Tacos, Salsa Verge, Salsa Fresco, black beans and rice. There was so much food and variety we all stuffed our faces. I especially liked the Fish and Steak Tacos and the assortment of salsa. Dudes - it takes time to make an assortment of salsas - I watch Alex do it all the time.

To top it all off Kelly (the baker) made Sopapillas with homemade Cinnamon Ice Cream (Tim may have made the ice cream). Sopapillas are like little donut holes, but much more fluffy and light. Holy crap they were so good I had two servings.

I feel like there was one main topic of conversation during supper, but I can't remember what it was about. I do remember Roxanne talking a lot, but that's normal :). Since Mad Men was premiering their new season that night folks headed home around 9:30PM - 10:00PM. Alex and I prefer Hung and Entourage, but whatever your flavor. I'm so happy these three ended up joining Supper Club. I met Tim and Jeremy at the Sundance labs in '07 and once I met Kelly just last December (Tim's GF) I new they would all be a great fit to our group. It was another successful an delicious Supper Club and a great start or end to the week - however you look at your Sunday evenings.
